A quiet and historical area of Southwestern Tuscany. We did not have a car so travelled by bus, which, once you work things out is very good. A knowledge of the language would be beneficial as the village people do not speak any English. However, we managed to make ourselves understood, it all added to the excitement and charm and being in a foreign country.

The location of Casina di Rosa is fantastic. It is in a very small village south of Siena. Civitella Marittima still retains the true essence of Italy and has not been spoilt by tourism. The people are friendly from the owners to the shopkeepers and the lady who waved each morning from a nearby window. Civitella Marittima is also well located for visiting other places in Tuscany. In our week long stay we visited Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pisa, Lucca, Pienza, Castiglione della Pescaia and Siena.

There are lovely town and countryside views (particularly from the bedroom window)and the glow of the rising morning sun on the surrounding buildings, with the swallows circling overhead is not to be missed. Civitella itself, is perfectly located for day trips to a myriad of Central and Southern Tuscany sites and has quick and easy access to the main north-south highway in the area.

The house is located in Civitella Marittima, this is a small village that lies in the hills between the cities Siena and Grosseto. The village and people in the village are very friendly. After a week we almost got the feeling we were one of the locals.

Casina di Rosa is a small house located in the charming hilltop village of Civitella Marittima, about 30 minutes south of Siena. The views of the surrounding countryside from the top of the village were incredible in all directions. Although it is located within the village, it is very private and quiet.

Casina di Rosa is located in the village of Civitella Marittima between Siena and Grosseto on the SS223. The location within the village is great, and the general location is very convenient for day trips.

AAs we followed the excellent directions that our landlord, Gloria sent us, we read that after passing the sign for Paganico the village could be seen on the hill to our left. We looked up to see a stone village reflecting the sunlight. Though seeming too much to hope for, this was indeed our first view of Civitella. A small village (pop. 350), Civitella Marittima is between Grosseto and Siena. It is an ancient hill town that dates back to Etruscan times. The surrounding views, whether in the morning mist or the sunset, are incredibly beautiful.

All the special touches included chocolates in the sitting room, beautiful fresh flowers in the bedroom, bottle of local wine, pasta and sauce on the kitchen table. We were able to prepare a fresh green salad making use of the olive oil and vinegar left for one's use.

This rental was a small self-contained house in a small village. You can walk through the village in a short time. We enjoyed the area very much. I think we were the only English speakers staying there. The locals were quite warm and inviting. They seemed to appreciate our less than adequate Italian. We toured all the nearby towns during the week we were in Civitella.

Casina di Rosa is in a small hilltop village called Civitella Marittima. The house is in the village but it is independent and in a very nice location. It is close to other buildings because it is in the centre of the village, but it is not attached to them. It is really nice.
As for the area, Civitella Marittima is located 2km from the highway which runs between Grosseto and Siena. It is very easy to find from Florence airport. The village is actually halfway between the two cities, so the house makes for a very convenient base in order to visit two very different areas of Southern Tuscany: the Maremma and the area around Siena. We filled our two weeks very easily, and we could have stayed longer and not have been left without things to see and do.

The house is in the middle of a very old, small village. The (local) neighbours are very friendly.
There was a very good restaurant just around the corner. Another one, that we didn't try, 2 kilometres from the house.

The house is located in Civitella Marittima in Maremma, a nature preserve area. The hills, with their wheat fields and olive groves, give the countryside a unique character of exceptional beauty. The towns, mostly perched on the hilltops, are very picturesque with their winding lanes.

Casina di Rosa in Civitella Maritima is a small, very cosy and well equiped/furnished house in a village in which everybody is hospitable and in which you can find a very good restaurant. In the region of Casina di Rosa you can't be in a hurry: it invites you to rest.
You can visit Siena and Grosseto (half an hour to drive by car). Within a radius of 30 km you can visit towns, beaches, vineyards and winehouses (bodegas) and (hot)springs in a beautiful/fairy-like evironment.
All the people are kind in this part of Italy. You never regret the stay at Casina di Rosa.

2005 - Da Slow Travel
Casina di Rosa to be very honest was a perfect home for our vacation. The moment we walked in the door my husband and I both sighed and smiled. It was more than we had wished for.
Casina di Rosa is fresh crisp and clean! The kitchen is totally equipped with all the essentails any home would need. I never once wished I had this or that - all we had to do was open a cupboard and there it was!

Casina di Rosa is located in the small village of Civitella Marittima. The apartment is centrally located in the village and the village was located centrally for day trips to Siena, the Maremma, Massa Marittima, the wine towns of Montalcino and Montepulciano, the Etruscan sites of Savana and Pitigliano and hiking in Murlo. We loved the area and the village itself.

La Casina di Rosa is located in the village of Civitella Marittima. This is a very old hill town. The house is in close proximity to other similar dwellings, but was perhaps the quietest and most relaxing place we've stayed in a long time. Part of the charm of village life is the complete cultural immersion. We enjoyed hearing the neighbors going about their daily rounds. It was especially fun to see the young children out walking with their nonni! Civitella appears to have a rich family tradition. We, too, enjoyed taking long walks around the village. We enjoyed the total relaxation of this trip. The slow pace of Civitella helped us to put our stressful, rushed lives in the Northeastern US in perspective!

The house was very clean, well furnished and exceptionally well equipped. Great location, good for day trips both in the area of Siena and for the Maremma. Relatively cheap, definitely good value for money. Owners very friendly and helpful. The website (http://www.casinadirosa.it) provides truthful information. Great little village with an excellent restaurant. Very quiet off the beaten path.

2004 - Da Slow Travel
I stayed in Casina di Rosa in Civitella Marittima from November 30 through December 11. The owners are extremely helpful and accommodating -- helping one to plan trips, and arrange extras, such as car rentals.
The home was very clean, and exactly as presented on the website -- something that I personally worried about, since I just "stumbled across it" on the internet. I should NOT have worried. Casina di Rosa was and is a beautiful property -- in a QUIET village on a hilltop. The owners are concerned about making your stay in their home as good as possible, and are available for help whenever asked.

Casina di Rosa is located in Civitella Marittima, a small hilltown in the southern-western Tuscan region, about 30 minutes south of Siena. Though close to neighbors, the house is extremely private.
The best bonus is the local restaurant in Civatella! As I mentioned eariler, the chef used to work for the Savoy in London, so the food was fabulous. The location is central to so many marvelous spots throughout Tuscany, i.e., Siena is 30 minutes, Florence 1 hour, plus so many hilltowns such as Sorano, Pitigliano, Saturnia, Montalcino. The winery at Banfi is only 15 minutes away, etc. Great location.

Casina Di Rosa is in the Maremma region of Tuscany. It is an absolutely beautiful location. It is located in an area that is very picturesque. The house itself is very private, although as in all Italian villages, the neighbours are very close.
I highly recommend this rental home. I have already recommend it to a number of people and would not hesitate to do so again. I would love to go back another time during a different season.

Casina di Rosa is located village of Civitella Maritemma which is a well preserved hilltop town with spectacular views.
The apartment was cosy; perfectly suited to the two of us, with a separate lounge for reading or poring over maps for the next days jaunt. It was recently renovated, but had preserved essential and beautiful features like the fireplace in the kitchen.

Casina di Rosa is an apartment rental on the top floor in Civitella Marittima, a town in Tuscany. The village is home to 350 residents and offers all essential services. It really is a small town. Everyone is very nice and after only staying there for a week we've seen the familar routes and people that goes on in this village. It's really nice and quiet.
If you're looking for a small town and want to see what the Tuscany life is like this is a very small and quiet village to stay at.

I cannot recommend this house highly enough, we loved every minute of staying there. Gloria the owner, has it stocked to perfection, i.e. - all you need if you wish to cook fresh pasta from the large supermarket which is just 6km away. Your coffee and tea are already there, as is your salt, oils etc. And a nice little welcome basket of food and wine in case you arrive late and just want to cook something quickly.

2004 - Da Slow Travel.
Casina di Rosa in Civitella Marittima is the best vacation we have ever had! We have just returned from a week at this wonderful Tuscan hide-a-way and we are already planning our return for next year!
If you are looking for a place to relax, experience life as though you actually lived there, and be convenient to exploring the region around Siena, then this is the perfect place for you. Civitella Marittima is a beautiful hilltop village overlooking the spectacular country that Tuscany is famous for. It is less than an hour's drive to beautiful beaches and about half an hour by car to the beautiful city of Siena. Florence is also an easy day trip away with bus service from the village.

Last year we had reported what a wonderful time we had in Tuscany staying a week at Casina di Rosa (see Review #905). Some things are simply to good to do only once and you know you must return! And return we did!
Often when people go back to the same area they are disappointed ... things change ... or the experience was better in memory than in reality. Not so for us!

The house is in Civitella Maritima, a beautifull tiny village built on a hillock, surrounded by fortifications like so many other villages in the Maremma area. The streets are narrow and charming.
Within a couple of days, the old lady next door saluted us every day from her living room window. People in the village were very friendly and helpful.

Thank you Gloria for the time we spent in your house, which is exactly the way it is presented on your website. This is a place that we would recommend to future visitors to Tuscany, seeing as Civitella Marittima is well situated for sightseeing. This little house, very neat, nicely decorated and welcoming is very well equipped. The owner is not only friendly, but we also appreciated the quick responses she gave to our various requests for information.

We loved our one week stay at the Casina Di Rosa in Civitella. We spent a month in Italy touring the country and our time at this villa was one of the highlights of the trip. The villa is centrally located and it is possible to travel very easily to Siena (35 km), Grosseto (35 km), Pisa and Florence (70 km). It is also convenient to take trips to Montepulciano, Monterregioni and the Chianti region as well as other Tuscan towns and villages.

Casina di Rosa is a nice house in Civitella Marittima. I knew the area and I found it through a search engine. It was not expensive (330 euros for 7 nights) so I booked it, even though at first I was a bit worried because of the 50% booking depot. Actually in the end it was a very nice experience and I really recommend it.
It is an independent house and it has no direct neighbours, so it's rather private. We wanted something like this, because we wanted to relax without having to deal with other people.

My boyfriend and me spent one week in a village called Civitella Marittima in Tuscany. We went there because we found a good deal to rent a house from the owner.
This review has a double goal: the first is to really recommend the house, the second is to even more warmly recommend the area.
