Our vacation rental reviews

It perfectly suited to the two of us

###Location

Casina di Rosa is located village of Civitella Maritemma which is a well preserved hilltop town with spectacular views. The village was a sleepy little place.

###Nearby Amenities

There was a bar for coffee (and another for drinks in the evening) as well as a small place for essential groceries and a bakery which made the excellent local biscuit which went so well with vin Santo. Within 10 kilometres was a coop in the next village where it was possible to shop for a wider variety of goods.

###The House/Apartment

The apartment was cosy; perfectly suited to the two of us, with a separate lounge for reading or poring over maps for the next days jaunt. It was recently renovated, but had preserved essential and beautiful features like the fireplace in the kitchen. It was also the only apartment in the building (above a garage).

###Garden

There was small area outside the front door where one could sit and take the evening air; it was not all that private, but the village was small enough that it did not feel exposed. There was unfortunately no pool.

###Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furnishings were quite adequate, and included a small radio/CD player as well as a small barbecue. The bed was comfortable and we had our own washing machine.

###Bedrooms/Bathrooms

As mentioned, the bed was comfortable, the bedroom spacious and more than enough hanging space was provided. The bathroom had recently been renovated and was in perfect condition.

###Kitchen

The kitchen was well provided with the necessary tools for cooking. We enjoyed immensely the opportunity to use the local ingredients to make dinner for ourselves.

###Problems or Bonuses

We were extremely grateful for the excellent suggestions of local attractions and restaurant recommendations. We enjoyed these so much we returned to them. Gloria had provided an excellent Chianti for us, as well as good local olive oil and some other goodies to eat.

Without a doubt it was this attention to detail we found greatly enhanced our stay. And as a result, we would unreservedly recommend it to anyone.

###Agency and Representatives (and price)

Communication before we arrived, made the arrival and settling in process very smooth. It certainly lived up to our expectations, based on the pictures on the website.

###Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We would unreservedly and without qualification recommend this to anyone who needed a cosy place for two to stay.

###Things to do in this area

It is so close to the main wine regions of Chianti and Brunello that they really take first place in any places to visit. The baths at Saturnia, are a longish drive away, but soooo worth it. We skipped the developed resort and went instead to the free outdoor area and it was a dream come true. The local restaurant in the village of Civitella Maritemma is a must visit for its spectacular wild boar dishes, excellent wine list and friendly service (with friendly feline accompaniment).
